Analytics

HarborFM tracks listens and feed traffic for shows served from the HarborFM host. Open Analytics from the show page (managers, owners, and collaborators with the View role or above can see analytics).

If you deploy audio only to a remote CDN via Podcast Delivery and listeners never hit HarborFM for enclosures, built-in play analytics for those remote files will not apply. Stats still cover traffic that goes through HarborFM.

Primary Metrics

  • Downloads - Unique filtered audio downloads (listener traffic; crawlers and tiny probes are excluded)
  • Unique listeners - Deduplicated listeners over the selected range
  • Apps - Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Website, Other (website/theme players mark audio with hf_src=web so browser listens count as Website; RSS enclosure URLs are unchanged)
  • Locations - Country charts, with city detail in the table when GeoIP is configured
  • Feed health - Feed fetch overview; optional raw fetches when you need more detail
  • Retention - Website player reports playhead reach by episode (decile curve)

Filter by start and end dates, and which published episodes appear in the charts (defaults to the 5 newest). Draft and scheduled episodes are excluded from the Analytics episode list and related per-episode stats.

Traffic Classification

Charts distinguish listeners from crawlers (directory agents, bots, and denylisted scrapers such as Apple Watch and common directory crawlers). Tiny partial Range probes (for example feed preload metadata) do not count as downloads; full-file GETs still can. Public feed and embed players use preload="none" to avoid inflating stats.

Default window is roughly the last 2 weeks, using the server’s local timezone (including today), so same-day traffic shows without waiting until tomorrow.

GeoIP (GeoLite2) powers location when configured in Admin settings.
